Who We Are
A Continuum of Care (CoC) is a local or regional planning entity designated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to coordinate efforts to prevent and address homelessness. CoCs oversee the planning and delivery of housing and supportive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. They unite nonprofit service providers, local and tribal governments, housing agencies, people with lived experience of homelessness, and other community partners to develop and carry out a coordinated, community-wide approach to ending homelessness.
The Montana Statewide Continuum of Care
The Montana Statewide Continuum of Care (MT CoC) is a community-driven, action-oriented collaborative composed of partners across the state working to prevent and end homelessness in Montana. The MT CoC applies for and oversees HUD Continuum of Care Program funding, leverages additional state and federal resources, supports locally coordinated homelessness response systems, and addresses the diverse needs of individuals and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness statewide.
Our Mission: To make homelessness in Montana rare, brief, and one-time only through effective statewide leadership and collaboration.
What We Do
Representation & Responsibilities:
Representation & Responsibilities: The MT CoC is established by representatives of relevant organizations and populations across the state and carry out the duties of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care program as provided in federal statute 24 CFR Part 578.
In operating the MT CoC, the following responsibilities are fulfilled:
